The 27th annual Fleet Empire State Building Run-Up race took place on Tuesday, February 3rd, 2004 with 134 runners from around the world this year. The event competitors raced up a total of 1,576 steps to the Observatory deck on the 86th floor.
The overall men's division winner was Rudolf Reitberger of Julbach, Austria with a winning time of 10 minutes and 37 seconds. Twin brothers Ran and Dan Alterman, both of Tel Aviv, Israel, came in second and third place with the times of 10:53 and 11:08 respectively.
Andrea Mayr of Vienna, Austria took the women's title with a winning and new record time of 12 minutes and 8 seconds. In second place was Cindy Moll-Harris of Indianapolis, Indiana, last year's female winner, who finished with a time of 13:26 this year. Third place was again taken by Amy Eleanor Fredericks of Greenwich, Connecticut, who improved her time by finishing at 13:48 this year.
