Each year, over a hundred runners from around the world participate in this unique race up a total of 1,576 steps to the Observatory deck on the 86th floor. The 31st annual ESB Run-Up took place on Tuesday, February 5, 2008.

	The first light to shine atop the Empire State Building in November, 1932, was a searchlight beacon which told people for 50 miles that Franklin D. Roosevelt has been elected president of the United States.

The Empire State Building is located at 350 Fifth Avenue, between 33rd and 34th Streets, in midtown Manhattan.
