Why is the Empire State Building Part of Percy Jackson's World?

In “Percy Jackson and the Olympians,” the Empire State Building serves as the entrance to Mount Olympus. Its mythical “600th Floor” connects the city below with the home of the Greek gods, which makes this real New York landmark an unbeatable stop for fans.

Cast members Walker Scobell, Leah Sava Jeffries, and Aryan Simhadri visited ESB in December 2023 to celebrate the show’s debut. Now, “Olympus Awaits” gives fans a new reason to follow Percy’s footsteps to the building.

What Can You See Inside the 'Olympus Awaits' Experience?

Enter the Throne Room of the Gods

The centerpiece of the takeover is an indoor Throne Room with towering thrones inspired by the Greek gods. As you enter Olympus, familiar mythology becomes part of your own New York adventure.

Discover Hidden References and Interactive Photo Moments

Look beyond the thrones for artifacts from the series, interactive elements, and immersive photo opportunities. Take your time with the details and compare discoveries you’re your fellow demigods.

If your favorite immersive NYC experiences put you inside a story, this takeover adds a distinct Percy Jackson chapter to your trip. You can explore the indoor activation together, then continue your Observation Deck visit for unmatched views of the city below.

Look Out for Special Keepsakes

Select visitors may receive keepsakes inspired by Percy’s world, such as a key to Olympus. These surprise moments add another element of discovery to the experience. Quantities are limited, so consider any unexpected treasure a bonus to your quest.

Can You Visit the ‘Hand of Talos’ Photo Opportunity for Free?

Yes. The “Hand of Talos” installation in the ground floor ticket office will offer a free photo opportunity that is open to the public.

It is an easy stop to add to your NYC itinerary, whether you have time for a quick photo or plan to explore the full takeover. To enter the Throne Room and experience “Olympus Awaits,” you will need Observation Deck admission.

What Is ‘The Glow from Olympus?’

On Friday, Nov. 20, the Empire State Building will celebrate with “The Glow from Olympus,” a special exterior light display inspired by the legendary home of the gods.

The display coincides with the Season 3 premiere of “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” on Disney+ and Hulu. If your trip falls on that date, look toward the Empire State Building after dark for another connection between Percy’s world and the New York City skyline.

How Can You Add the Takeover to Your NYC Itinerary?

Make ESB the anchor of a day that celebrates your favorite series. Start with the free “Hand of Talos” photo opportunity, explore the ticketed takeover, and enjoy the skyline as part of your Observation Deck visit.

Before you leave, browse the exclusive “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” x Empire State Building merchandise on the 86th Floor Observation Deck. These items will be available for purchase for a limited time, so fans can bring home a token from their visit to Olympus.
