To celebrate the premiere for “The Color Purple”, Oprah Winfrey and cast members Fantasia Barrino, Taraji P. Henson, Danielle Brooks and Blitz Bazawule visited ESB. They flipped the famous switch, making ESB light purple in celebration of the premiere. They were also guided on an exclusive tour at the “World’s Most Famous Building”.
- In 1971, Winfrey won the Miss Black Tennessee beauty pageant at age 17.
- Winfrey has been nominated for two Academy Awards.
- In 2013, Winfrey was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by previous president Barack Obama.
